Surf sports play a vital role at Stockton Surf Life Saving Club. While competition allows our athletes to test their speed, endurance and skill against rival clubs across New South Wales, surf sports training ultimately serves a higher purpose: keeping our active lifesavers fit, competent and rescue-ready on Stockton Beach.
Whether you are a Nipper taking part in your first local carnival, a teenager stepping into board racing, or a master athlete rowing surf boats, our surf sports program welcomes competitors of all skill levels and ages.

Surf boat rowing is one of the most iconic and thrilling disciplines in Australian surf lifesaving. Teams of four rowers and a sweep battle through the breaking surf in purpose-built ocean craft. Stockton SLSC has a proud history in boat rowing, offering training squads for open, reserve, youth and masters divisions.
Paddling requires balance, core strength and fine-tuned ocean awareness. Our board and ski squads train regularly on Stockton Beach and nearby sheltered waterways, helping athletes refine their technique for both individual racing and team tapestry events like the ironperson.
For those who prefer dry land, our beach sports discipline focuses on explosive speed and reaction times. Events include 90m beach sprints, beach relays and the intense, fan-favourite beach flags competition.
Ocean swimming forms the bedrock of all surf sports. Our swim squads focus on surf navigation, body surfing, wade starts and endurance, culminating in ironperson events that combine swimming, board paddling, ski paddling and running.
Stockton SLSC athletes represent our club across a range of events during the summer season, including:

Team selections and carnival entries strictly follow the official Stockton SLSC Surf Sports Competition Policy to ensure fair participation and athletic excellence.
