Stockton Surf Life Saving Club offers dynamic programs for members of all ages, ranging Nippers (+6 yrs) through Open Surf Sports (+15 yrs) and Masters (+30 yrs) , fostering skill development, fitness, and community engagement.
Through these programs, Stockton Surf Life Saving Club nurtures the next generation of surf lifesavers and athletes, emphasising safety, skill, and community spirit.

Stockton Surf Life Saving Club is part of Australia’s peak coastal water safety, drowning prevention and rescue authority. With active-duty operations during September to April each year, Stockon Surf Life Savers keep over 50,000 beach users safe each year. Each year we strive to achieve our core goal of no lives lost between the flags.
Stockton Surf Life Saving Club nurtures future lifesavers through youth programs like the Rookie Program for 13–14-year-olds. In partnership with Hunter Branch, it builds skills, leadership, and teamwork through hands-on patrol experience.
Graduates earn recognition, a uniform, and a Youth Passport – bridging the gap between Nippers and Seniors with a focus on leadership, teamwork and personal growth, not competition.
Stockton Surf Life Saving Club’s Nippers program teaches beach and surf skills to kids aged 5–13 through fun, safe activities like swimming, board paddling, and beach sprints.
Running October to March, it builds surf confidence and encourages family involvement, offering a pathway into surf lifesaving as children grow. Nippers are divided into age groups.

First day is Sunday 12 October 2025
Sign on: 9:30am Start: 10am
All Nippers (Under 8s and older) are expected to have a basic level of swimming ability enabling them to pass a preliminary evaluation.
All Nippers must have their parent or guardian sign them in and out with their age manager.

An Age Manager plays an important role in the development of junior members and introducing them to surf life saving experiences. We are very fortunate to have a great team of Age Managers and welcome your interest in assisting the team.

Stockton Surf Life Saving Club has a rich history of producing Branch, State, and Australian champions over its 100+ years. With expert coaching, athletes train in surf swimming, boards, boats, and more. The club proudly develops champions and nurtures talent from Nippers to elite competitors across all ages 8 to 75+.

Various individual and teams events that involve running a soft sand track. For Flags, competitors start lying on their stomach facing the opposite direction and then race to collect a baton.
A boat crew consists of five competitors, four rowers and a sweep. Boat crews start at the water’s edge, row to their assigned turning buoy approximately 400 metres off shore and return to the beach.
IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) competition aims to demonstrate their techniques and abilities to perform rescues.
Competitors paddle their surf ski around three buoys and return to the finish line.. Ski events can be single or double (two people in the same ski).
Competitors run, wade and swim 400 meters to sea across a set of buoys and then return to the beach. The Stockton Surf Life Saving Club gym is a dedicated fitness space for members to build strength, improve endurance, and support surf lifesaving readiness. Overlooking the ocean, it offers a motivating environment for training, fostering health, wellbeing, and camaraderie among patrolling members, athletes, and the broader club community.
